I Am A Certified Somatic Coach

To be physically fit one needs to be strong as well as flexible, sturdy yet agile, adaptive yet balanced and to have the stamina to go the distance.

In business, as with life in general, we need all of these attributes working together for us.  We need to be strong enough to press through when things are tough, flexible and agile enough to adapt to a fast changing environment, with a strong sense of balance and connection to our core values.  As we become more attuned to our own rhythms and moods, as well as to the moods of others, we become more effective at reading and responding to our environment, which brings us more success.

My training is Somatic, or “whole body” coaching, which uses practices incorporating the body, mind and spirit for maximum benefit.

When the Special Forces teams in Iraq and Afganistan got into trouble recovering fast enough after a firefight they brought in Somatic Coach, Richard Strozzi Heckler.  He introduced Somatic practices that helped the Special Forces teams recover more quickly in the heat of battle.

When the Tsunami hit, there was widespread devastation.  It even took its toll on the health care teams.  Some of my Somatic Colleagues went there and worked with not only the trauma victims, but also the caretakers, helping them to restore their own nervous systems.

When the dot com bubble burst I worked with a number of financial services professionals and brought this somatic sensibility to their crisis.

We all live by scripts, written by ourselves and others, which tell us who we are, what we do, how the world works, and what our role is in it.  Whether we’re the hero, the villain, the slave or the clown is all determined by this interior narrative.  Somatic Coaching gives you tools to decipher this narrative and to better clarify what you want and don’t want for yourself.  Patterns of behavior, attitudes, beliefs and conditioned tendencies are revealed and, when necessary, changed.

No matter what the situation, business is about people working together with other people.  Our legacy is shaped by all of our decisions, our choices and our behaviors.

Our capacity to act with courage and compassion in our homes needs to be in sync with how we behave towards our colleagues at work.  Becoming good at all of this takes practice.  That’s where I come in.  I help people bring new awareness to how they show up, and provide practices designed to build the virtues, attributes and actions to which my clients aspire.
